The International Festival of Youth (IFY) 2026 has officially commenced in Ekaterinburg, Russia, bringing together 10,000 young participants from 191 countries under the inspiring motto "Follow Your Dream." Running from September 11 to 17, 2026, the festival serves as a major platform for cultural exchange and professional development for creative individuals aged 18 to 35. This year's event, which builds on the success of the 2024 World Youth Festival, features a diverse program centered on international collaboration in the arts and culinary sciences, highlighting the shared values of homeland and cultural heritage.
A cornerstone of the festival is the International Art Exhibition, which showcases the work of young artists from 100 different nations. Organized by ANO Tavrida Art in partnership with the Union of Russian Artists and the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the exhibition received a high volume of global applications before selecting its final participants. Project head Diana Kovela emphasized the unique, ephemeral nature of the display, which is open to the public for only four days. The collection blends the perspectives of emerging talents like Marina Kudrina with works from established masters, creating a rich tapestry of global artistic expression that reflects diverse interpretations of culture.
Simultaneously, the festival is hosting the "Tastes of the World" culinary event, an ambitious initiative in "gastronomic diplomacy." Approximately 100 chefs from nations including Russia, China, India, and Syria are participating, offering a menu of 136 unique dishes and beverages. The culinary showcase aims to serve 20,000 meals over the course of the festival, featuring massive centerpieces such as a five-meter-long coulibiac alongside international staples like falafel, jiaozi, and chicken dum biryani. Beyond mere tasting, the event includes 19 culinary shows and 63 masterclasses designed to teach participants the traditions behind these global cuisines.
By merging visual arts with culinary traditions, IFY 2026 fosters an environment where young leaders can build international networks and explore professional opportunities. The festival’s comprehensive structure underscores a commitment to cultural initiatives that transcend borders, providing a high-profile stage for the next generation of global creators. As the events in Ekaterinburg continue through September 17, the festival remains a testament to the power of youth engagement in shaping a collaborative international future.
