Ecobank Ghana PLC has officially handed over a newly refurbished digital learning centre to the 4 Garrison Education Centre in Kumasi. This initiative coincides with the celebration of Ecobank Day 2026, an annual event where the bank focuses on community-driven projects. The new facility is intended to provide a modern environment where both students and teachers can gain proficiency in the digital tools required for contemporary education.
The digital laboratory is equipped with 26 desktop computers and purpose-built furniture to facilitate a productive learning atmosphere. During the commissioning ceremony, Managing Director Abena Osei-Poku explained that the centre is designed to help users develop practical skills in high-demand areas such as coding and web development. This inauguration marks the seventh digital centre established by Ecobank across Ghana between 2023 and 2026, highlighting a sustained commitment to enhancing the nation's technological infrastructure.
Military officials representing the 4 Garrison expressed gratitude for the bank's investment in the educational development of their personnel's children. Colonel Osman Zuneidu praised the initiative as a critical step for national development, noting that digital literacy is no longer optional in the modern world. He further cautioned the students and staff to exercise a high degree of responsibility in maintaining the equipment to ensure the facility serves future generations of learners.
Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Niminga-Beka also addressed the gathering, urging the beneficiaries to maximize the resources now available to them. He noted that the facility offers a unique opportunity for technological advancement that should be used to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. By integrating such facilities into the military education system, the bank and the garrison aim to produce graduates who are well-prepared for the technical challenges of the future job market.
