The Eastern Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged abduction and physical abuse of several women at a gated facility in Ntano, located within the New Juaben North Municipality. The police intervention was prompted by reports from residents who became alarmed after hearing unusual and distressing noises emanating from the property. Upon acting on these reports, law enforcement officers discovered a group of women, many of whom are believed to be West African nationals, who were reportedly being held under duress.
The victims were allegedly recruited for network marketing purposes, but preliminary findings suggest they were held against their will and subjected to physical violence within the compound. Following a raid on the premises, the police apprehended several suspects who are currently in custody to assist with ongoing inquiries. Investigators are working to determine the full scale of the operation and the nature of the recruitment process that led the women to the facility.
At this stage, the Eastern Regional Police Command has withheld specific details regarding the identities of the suspects and the exact number of victims rescued. The authorities are focused on providing support to the affected women while gathering further evidence to build a comprehensive case. This incident has raised concerns among Ntano residents regarding the potential for gated communities to be used for illegal activities, and the police have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure all perpetrators face the law.
