Davido Contemplates Retirement While Facing Serious Cult-Related Allegations From Brymo

Nigerian Afrobeats heavyweight Davido is currently at the center of two major industry conversations following recent podcast appearances. While the hitmaker has sparked debate about the longevity of pop stars by hinting at a future departure from the stage, he is simultaneously being drawn into a brewing controversy involving fellow musician Brymo. Speaking on ‘The Uncut Podcast’, Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, suggested that he might step away from the limelight as he approaches the age of 40. The artist expressed a desire to exit the stage gracefully, stating that he does not wish to be seen "dragging" performance slots or competing for relevance with a younger generation of artists in their 20s. This reflection on his career trajectory highlights the intense physical and social demands of the global Afrobeats scene, where new talent emerges at a rapid pace and artists often feel pressured to maintain a youthful image.

However, Davido's career reflections have been overshadowed by serious allegations made by Nigerian singer Brymo. During an appearance on the ‘Lahor Talk’ podcast, Brymo reignited a long-standing dispute by claiming that Davido, alongside industry veterans 2Face (2Baba) and Burna Boy, was aware of or involved in an incident in 2019 where Brymo felt pressured to join a secret cult. Brymo recounted a meeting where he allegedly felt attacked and coerced, challenging the named artists to publicly address the matter and clarify their positions rather than offering private apologies.

The accusations follow a recent lyrical jab from Burna Boy in a diss track, which appears to have prompted Brymo’s demand for clarity. As of now, neither Davido, Burna Boy, nor 2Face have issued official statements regarding these specific claims.
