The family of 14-year-old Daniel Boateng Mintah has called for an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death at Abomosu STEM Senior High School. Daniel, who had recently enrolled at the institution with dreams of becoming a computer engineer, died on September 30, 2026, just days after starting his secondary education. The family’s demand for a probe follows what they describe as inconsistent accounts from school authorities and disturbing physical evidence found on the boy’s body.
Relatives of the deceased student revealed that they were initially informed of Daniel’s illness by the school and subsequently sent money to facilitate his medical care. However, the family claims the information provided by the school changed multiple times, leading to confusion about his actual state of health before his passing. Upon inspecting the body, the family reported seeing visible injuries and various medications, which they believe contradict the school’s initial explanations for his death.
Seeking justice for the young student, the family has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police and the Minister of Education to intervene. They are urging a transparent inquiry to determine the exact cause of death and whether any negligence or foul play was involved. The death has cast a shadow over the school as the community awaits further communication from the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Police Service regarding the family's allegations.
