Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, has issued a strong appeal to residents suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases to prioritize their health by seeking professional medical assistance. During a high-level meeting at his palace, the traditional leader emphasized that financial constraints should no longer be a barrier to accessing life-saving treatment, urging those in his jurisdiction not to endure their ailments in isolation at home.
The call to action was delivered during a working visit from the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), led by its administrator, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku. The visit served as a strategic engagement to increase public awareness regarding the financial assistance provided by the fund. The Omanhene highlighted the GMTF as a vital safety net designed specifically to support individuals facing the often-exorbitant costs associated with managing long-term health conditions, ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible to all segments of society.
Supporting the Omanhene’s message, local leaders and GMTF officials reiterated the importance of community awareness and the expansion of healthcare access. They noted that many families are unaware of the institutional support available to them, which frequently leads to delayed treatment and worsening health outcomes. By bridging the information gap, the GMTF aims to empower patients with chronic conditions to seek the specialized care they require without the fear of immediate financial ruin.
