Colgate Ghana and Melcom Supermarkets have launched a joint eight-week campaign to provide educational support to students across the country. The initiative, which runs until December 18, 2026, features a total scholarship pool of GH₵240,000 alongside GH₵120,000 in shopping vouchers. This partnership aims to alleviate the financial burden of education for families by rewarding loyal customers through a nomination-based system.
To participate in the promotion, customers must purchase at least two qualifying Colgate toothpaste variants from any Melcom outlet nationwide. Upon purchase, customers can scan a QR code provided in-store to nominate a student for a scholarship. Individual winners will receive GH₵15,000 each, which Colgate Ghana will pay directly to the beneficiary's educational institution to ensure the funds are used specifically for tuition and academic costs. The campaign is designed to benefit several students through a weekly selection process.
Edward Sonkor, the Country Lead for Colgate Ghana, highlighted that the campaign is a core part of the company's commitment to community development and corporate social responsibility. He emphasized that by integrating educational support with everyday retail activities, the brand is able to make a tangible impact on the lives of students and their families. The inclusion of shopping vouchers alongside the scholarships provides additional relief for household expenses during the campaign period.
The collaboration between the oral care brand and the retail giant reflects a growing trend of corporate initiatives targeting the education sector in Ghana. By providing substantial financial relief directly to schools, the program seeks to support academic continuity and reduce the rate of students dropping out due to financial constraints. The initiative is expected to conclude with a final round of award presentations in late December, marking the end of the 2026 campaign cycle.
