China Media Group (CMG) hosted the "China’s Governance and Worldwide Development Global Dialogue" in Accra on November 6, 2026. The forum brought together experts, diplomats, and political figures to explore China's development model and its relevance to African governance. Participants focused on how long-term planning and policy consistency have served as the foundation for China's sustainable growth, seeking to draw lessons that could be applied to the Ghanaian and broader African context.
A panel of experts, including Professor Richard Asante and Ms. Samia Nkrumah, emphasized the necessity for African nations to build a national consensus on development priorities. They argued that China’s success is rooted in pragmatic leadership and institutional integrity, which allows for development projects to continue across different political cycles. The panelists urged African governments to adopt similar frameworks to ensure that national progress is not disrupted by the transitions between successive administrations, thereby enhancing accountability and citizen participation.
Contributing to the discussion, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, called for a strategic partnership between Ghana and China focused on industrialisation and technology transfer. She highlighted that for economic growth to be truly sustainable, it must be grounded in mutual respect and the development of human capital. Minister Gomashie also cited the Chinese-funded rehabilitation of Ghana’s National Theatre as a concrete example of how international cooperation can bolster the creative arts and tourism sectors.
Chinese Ambassador Cong Song reaffirmed China's commitment to supporting Ghana’s specific development initiatives, while journalist Kwesi Pratt commended the ongoing solidarity between China and Africa. In a message delivered for the event, CMG President Shen Haixiong noted that understanding China’s trajectory requires an understanding of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) governance standards. The dialogue concluded with a commitment from CMG to continue sharing governance insights to foster international cooperation and shared development goals.
