Charles Amofah Elected Vice President of African Bowling Federation as Ghana Secures Executive Leadership

In a significant milestone for Ghanaian sports administration, Charles O. Amofah has been elected as the Vice President of the African Bowling Federation (BFA). The election took place during the federation's 2026 General Assembly, marking a strategic moment for the continent's bowling community as it seeks to professionalize and expand the sport's reach. Amofah’s elevation to this high-ranking executive position underscores Ghana’s growing influence within international sporting federations and places the nation at the heart of decision-making for the sport across Africa.

The General Assembly also saw the election of a diverse and experienced leadership team intended to guide the BFA through its next phase of growth. General Ahmed Nasr was elected as President, while Ahmed Abdelhamid Gamal secured the position of Secretary General. To ensure broad regional representation, the executive board also includes members from Egypt, Tunisia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This multinational composition reflects the federation's commitment to inclusivity and the collective advancement of bowling as a competitive sport from North to Sub-Saharan Africa.

The newly constituted leadership team has outlined a clear mandate focused on enhancing bowling operations and infrastructure throughout the continent. During the assembly, the board emphasized the importance of collaboration between member nations and guests to foster a more robust environment for athlete development. By streamlining administrative processes and promoting inter-continental tournaments, the BFA aims to elevate the standard of the sport, ultimately preparing African bowlers for greater success on the global stage. For Ghana, Amofah's role provides a direct channel to advocate for local resources and talent development in this niche but growing sport.
