Cenpower Generation Limited has successfully removed 600 tonnes of waste from Sega Beach as part of its fourth annual KIPP Clean Project. This initiative, which forms a core part of the company's environmental strategy, aims to combat the persistent problem of coastal pollution and promote sustainable waste management practices. By clearing this substantial volume of debris, the company has taken a major step toward restoring the ecological health of the beach and protecting the surrounding marine environment. The project, initially launched in September 2023, is built on a foundation of collaboration between the independent power producer and local community stakeholders. During the cleanup exercise, participants focused on removing various forms of waste, particularly plastics, which pose a severe threat to marine ecosystems. CEO Theophilus Sackey highlighted the importance of this work, stating that environmental responsibility must be a collective effort. He noted that the initiative serves as a platform to engage the community in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Community leaders and residents have expressed support for the project, urging for continued participation to ensure the beach remains clean in the long term. They acknowledged the positive impact the cleanup has had on the local area, which relies on the coastline for various socio-economic activities. As Cenpower continues its operations, the KIPP Clean Project remains a vital component of its commitment to fostering sustainable development and ecological preservation within its host communities.
