Dr. Caleb Kwaku Afaglo, President of the Chamber of Digital Assets and Blockchain Innovations (CDABI), Ghana Chapter, has introduced two new publications intended to guide digital asset policy in Ghana and the West African sub-region. The soft launch of the books took place on October 22, 2026, in Accra during the MOBEX Africa 2026 event. These works arrive at a critical juncture as the industry seeks to navigate the regulatory landscape established by Ghana’s virtual asset legislation, which was enacted in December 2025.
The first publication, titled "Global Digital Asset Regulation Read from Accra: A Reference Report for Ghana and West Africa," provides a comprehensive comparison of various global regulatory frameworks. It offers detailed policy findings and recommendations specifically tailored for the Ghanaian context. The second book, "Rules for a New Money: Building Digital Asset Regulation from Accra," serves as a historical and analytical account, chronicling the specific development of Ghana’s virtual asset laws and exploring the rationale behind various regulatory decisions.
Following the initial unveiling in Accra, a main international launch is scheduled for November 12, 2026, at the Africa Stablecoin Summit in Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Afaglo's initiative aims to bolster industrial development by providing a clear reference for regulators, practitioners, and policymakers. Both publications are expected to be made available for wider distribution shortly after the Cape Town event, with e-editions set to be released on Amazon to ensure global accessibility.
These books are anticipated to significantly enhance the understanding and implementation of digital asset regulations across the region. By documenting the journey of Ghana's 2025 legislation and comparing it with international standards, Dr. Afaglo provides a framework for other West African nations looking to formalize their digital economies. The effort underscores the growing importance of structured legal environments for blockchain innovation and financial technology in Africa.
