Construction has officially commenced on a landmark 120-bed Specialised Trauma and Emergency Hospital in Bole, located in the Savannah Region. Contractors have fully mobilized on the 16,000-square-metre site, marking a significant step toward improving healthcare infrastructure in the area. The facility is designed to provide high-level emergency medical services, specifically targeting trauma and surgical cases that previously required residents to travel long distances for specialized treatment.
The hospital is set to feature a comprehensive array of critical care services, including a 24-hour Accident and Emergency Unit, trauma resuscitation bays, and emergency operating theatres. To support patients in critical condition, the facility will also house a dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a High Dependency Unit (HDU). These features are expected to significantly enhance the region's capacity to handle medical emergencies and reduce mortality rates associated with delayed specialized care.
Beyond basic emergency services, the new hospital will include specialized trauma wards and a dedicated burns treatment unit, addressing a critical gap in the current healthcare landscape of the Savannah Region. The architectural plan also incorporates orthopaedic and surgical units equipped with modern imaging and diagnostic facilities. This integrated approach ensures that patients can receive a full spectrum of care—from initial stabilization to complex surgery and recovery—within a single state-of-the-art facility.
Local authorities and health officials expect the project to transform healthcare delivery for residents of Bole and surrounding communities. By bringing advanced medical services closer to the people, the hospital aims to eliminate the financial and physical burden of traveling to distant cities for urgent procedures. With construction now underway, the project is moving steadily toward completion and eventual commissioning, representing a major milestone in the government's commitment to expanding health infrastructure across the country.
