The Catholic Bishop of the Keta-Akatsi Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, has blessed and dedicated a newly constructed grotto at the Holy Cross/Assumption Parish in Agorkpo, Sogakope. The ceremony, which took place on a Sunday, coincided with the church’s celebration of All Saints Day. The spiritual project was funded entirely by Worthy Brother John K. M. Zigah, a member of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, who sought to provide a dedicated space for prayer and reflection within the parish community.
The construction of the grotto carries significant personal and spiritual weight for the benefactor. During the dedication, John Zigah shared that the project was the fulfillment of a solemn vow he made 34 years ago during a prayer vigil. He expressed profound gratitude to his family and the wider church community for their unwavering support throughout the decades-long journey to realize this commitment, noting that the completion of the grotto serves as a testament to the importance of honoring promises made to God.
In his address during the dedication Mass, Bishop Kumordji emphasized the spiritual significance of the grotto, highlighting the role of the Virgin Mary as the Mother of all Saints. This message was particularly poignant given the timing of the event on the liturgical calendar. To honor his contribution and years of dedication, the parish presented Zigah with a citation of honor. The ceremony concluded with a blessing of the structure, which is now open to parishioners and the general public as a site for devotion and quiet meditation in the Sogakope area.
