The Ghana Police Service has arrested 47-year-old Beatrice Mumuni and placed a GH₵100,000 bounty on the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, following the fatal shooting of a man and his niece in Sakumono. The victims, identified as George Atubiga, 57, and Irene Atubiga, 47, were discovered dead at their residence in the NTHC Estate on October 30, 2026. Preliminary investigations suggest the double homicide was triggered by a financial dispute involving a debt of GH₵500,000 owed by George Atubiga to the suspect at large.
Beatrice Mumuni is alleged to have played a critical role in the incident by leading Osei Anto to the victims' home on the morning of the shooting. A confrontation regarding the outstanding debt reportedly escalated into violence, resulting in the deaths of both George and Irene. Irene Atubiga was a prominent entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer of Kussa Shea Bliss. Witnesses and initial reports indicate that the suspect fled the scene immediately after the gunfire, leaving the victims in a pool of blood within their home.
The Baatsona Divisional Police Command is spearheading the investigation into the murders. Officers arrived at the NTHC Estate shortly after receiving reports of the shooting and have since transported the bodies to the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. While Mumuni remains in custody assisting with the inquiry, the police have intensified their search for Osei Anto. The GH₵100,000 reward has been offered to any individual who provides credible information that leads to the suspect's arrest.
The tragic event has caused significant distress in the Sakumono community, highlighting the escalating dangers of unresolved private financial disputes. Public officials have urged citizens to use legal channels for debt recovery rather than resorting to violence. The Ghana Police Service continues to call on the public for assistance, requesting that any information regarding the whereabouts of Samuel Christopher Osei Anto be reported to the nearest police station or through official emergency contact lines.
