Musician Barosky Appeals for Help While Stranded in Manchester as Appietus Alleges Betrayal by Ofori Amponsah

Ghanaian musician Isaac Obeng Mensah, popularly known as Barosky, has made a distressing public appeal for assistance after finding himself homeless and stranded on the streets of Manchester, United Kingdom. Barosky, who rose to prominence through his iconic collaborations on highlife hits such as "Abele," "Rakia," and "Otoolege," revealed his dire circumstances in a recent video interview with Nana Romeo. The musician's plight has sparked widespread concern within the Ghanaian entertainment industry, highlighting the precarious situations some artists face after moving abroad and the subsequent loss of their support networks.

In his emotional account, Barosky described the harsh realities of his current life, noting that he lacks access to regular food and basic bathing facilities. Despite the severity of his challenges, he expressed a firm desire to return to Ghana rather than seeking further accommodation or government support within the UK. He admitted to being out of contact with his family back home for an extended period, which has significantly added to the emotional toll of his isolation. He is now calling on individuals and organizations to provide the necessary financial and logistical support to facilitate his journey back to his home country.

The revelation of Barosky’s condition has prompted sharp reactions from industry peers, most notably from veteran music producer Appietus. Appietus has publicly accused highlife icon Ofori Amponsah of "betraying" Barosky, suggesting that a mishandled "Netflix deal" or professional fallout contributed to the musician's current predicament. While specific details of the alleged betrayal remain limited to Appietus's claims, the accusation has shifted a portion of the public discourse toward the professional relationships and financial arrangements that existed during the height of Barosky’s career.

As the discussion regarding Barosky’s future intensifies, some figures within the media have questioned the long-term effectiveness of repatriation. Media personality and two-time Guinness World Records singathon contender Afua Asantewaa shared a video on social media suggesting that simply bringing Barosky back to Ghana might not be the ultimate solution to the underlying issues he faces. As the industry and the public continue to debate the most effective way to help the "Abele" star, his story serves as a sobering reminder of the volatility of the music business and the urgent need for stronger welfare systems for Ghanaian creatives both at home and in the diaspora.
