Paramount Chief of Bamvim Allocates Land for New Modern Fire Station in Tamale

In a significant boost to public safety and emergency management within the Northern Region, the Paramount Chief of Bamvim, Naa Abdulai Ziblim, has officially allocated a one-acre plot of land in Jongshegu, Tamale, for the construction of a new fire station. The land was handed over to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to address the urgent need for enhanced fire and rescue capabilities in the rapidly expanding suburb and its surrounding communities. This donation marks a critical step in decentralizing fire services to ensure quicker response times during emergencies in the area.

Receiving the land on behalf of the service, the Northern Regional Commander, ACFOI Joseph Koranteng, lauded the traditional leader for his visionary leadership and proactive approach to community welfare. ACFOI Koranteng emphasized that such collaborations between traditional authorities and state institutions are essential for national development. He noted that the presence of a dedicated station in Jongshegu would significantly reduce the distance fire tenders currently travel from central hubs, thereby saving lives and property that might otherwise be lost to delayed response times.

Naa Abdulai Ziblim expressed his unwavering commitment to developmental initiatives that safeguard his people and enhance local infrastructure. During the site visit, the Chief urged all relevant stakeholders and the central government to provide the necessary support to ensure the project reaches completion without undue delay. He highlighted that the growth of Jongshegu as a residential and commercial hub necessitates modern social amenities, with safety infrastructure being a top priority for his traditional administration.

The Ghana National Fire Service has announced plans to commence the development of the site into a modern facility equipped with contemporary firefighting and rescue technology soon. As Tamale continues to experience rapid urbanization, this project is expected to serve as a model for community-led infrastructure development. The eventual commissioning of the Jongshegu Fire Station will provide a vital safety net for thousands of residents, reflecting a successful partnership between the Bamvim traditional stool and the state's emergency services.
