The Ghana Police Service has arrested 21-year-old Peter Nchor Asadigina and 19-year-old Mudasel Dramani for the alleged murder of a female tricycle rider in Afrancho, within the Trede District of the Ashanti Region. The suspects were apprehended on October 30, 2026, at Hansua in the Bono East Region, following a coordinated police operation initiated by a public tip-off. The victim, who was operating a commercial tricycle, was reportedly attacked and killed during a robbery after being hired by the suspects for transportation.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects hired the deceased on October 29 at the Ampabame Lorry Station to transport them to Afrancho. Upon reaching a secluded location, they allegedly murdered the driver and stole her green Bajaj tricycle. The suspects then attempted to flee the area and were intercepted by police while traveling towards Techiman. During the arrest, law enforcement officers recovered the stolen tricycle along with personal items belonging to the deceased, including an iPhone 12 Pro and other mobile devices.
Police search operations also led to the discovery of eight mobile phones and a stolen number plate in the suspects' possession, which investigators believe was intended to be used to disguise the stolen vehicle. The body of the victim has since been conveyed to the morgue for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. Authorities have commended the public for providing the critical information that led to the swift arrest of the two men.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the robbery and murder. The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated to ensure the suspects face the full rigours of the law. This incident has sparked renewed calls for heightened security for commercial riders who often operate in isolated areas during late hours.
