A domestic fire outbreak in Anlo Town, located within the New Juaben North Municipality, has resulted in the destruction of 11 rooms of a 23-room compound house. The incident occurred near the Old Slaughter House, prompting an emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the blaze spreading through the residential structure, threatening to consume the entire building and adjacent properties.
A 10-member crew from the GNFS managed to contain and eventually extinguish the fire. While their swift intervention protected 12 rooms of the compound and prevented the flames from reaching neighboring houses, the residents of the affected 11 rooms lost significant personal belongings. Among the items destroyed were two electric motorbikes and a bicycle, as well as various household essentials and valuables.
Following the incident, the Ghana National Fire Service has restricted access to the affected portion of the compound house due to structural concerns and safety risks. Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blaze. Local authorities and fire officials are assessing the damage to ensure the remaining parts of the building are safe for occupancy while displaced residents determine their next steps.
