Ampem Darkoa Ladies have secured their place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nigeria’s Edo Queens in a final replay held in Cairo. The Ghanaian champions triumphed 3-2 on aggregate, with the decisive goal coming just two minutes into extra time. This victory marks the team's second qualification for Africa's premier women's club competition, confirming their status as a rising force in continental football.
The replay was necessitated by a regulatory dispute following the initial final match between the two sides. In that encounter, a penalty shootout had initially favoured Edo Queens, but Ampem Darkoa successfully protested the result. The Ghanaian club argued that tournament regulations mandated a period of extra time before proceeding to penalties, a step that had been bypassed in the first instance. CAF upheld the protest and ordered the replay, where the "Nanamma" side capitalized on their second chance to clinch the WAFU Zone B qualification slot.
With this qualification, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will move directly into Group B of the tournament, which is scheduled to commence on November 1 in Egypt. They face a challenging path to the knockout stages, having been drawn against Moroccan giants AS FAR, Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies, and USFAS Bamako from Mali. The team will look to build on their previous experience in the competition as they represent Ghana on the continental stage once again.
