Ghana’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Brigadier General Alhassan Abu (rtd), has concluded a diplomatic tour of four towns in western Côte d’Ivoire to strengthen ties with the Ghanaian diaspora. The mission was designed to bring essential consular services directly to citizens living abroad and to ensure the Embassy remains accessible to those outside the capital. During the visit, the Ambassador emphasized the government's commitment to protecting the interests of Ghanaians, regardless of their location, and providing them with necessary documentation and support.
A significant portion of the outreach focused on the welfare of Ghanaians currently held in local prisons. Ambassador Abu assured the community that the Embassy is actively monitoring the legal status and living conditions of these detainees to ensure their rights are respected. The tour also served as a platform for the "Meet Your Ambassador" town hall series, where the Ambassador engaged in open dialogue with residents. He encouraged community members to maintain regular communication with the Embassy and to utilize it as a resource for any challenges they face while living abroad.
In addition to consular matters, the Ambassador highlighted several initiatives aimed at trade, education, and investment. He urged the Ghanaian community to leverage these opportunities to contribute to Ghana’s national development while remaining law-abiding and respectful of the regulations in Côte d’Ivoire. The visit underscores the enduring diplomatic and social bonds between the two nations, with Ambassador Abu noting that such outreach programs are vital for integrating the diaspora into the national agenda as the Embassy plans further engagements across the country.
