Aki-Ola Publications Company Limited has presented a donation of educational books valued at GH₵482,410 to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). The contribution is part of a strategic effort to bolster educational resources and foster stronger ties between the state and private sector entities within the education sector. This initiative aims to enhance the availability of high-quality learning materials in schools across the country to improve overall academic performance.
The donation falls under the Education Financing and Partnership Initiative (EFPI), an agenda spearheaded by the GETFund Administrator, Paul Adjei. The EFPI seeks to mobilize additional resources from private-sector organisations to complement government efforts in improving the quality of education in Ghana. Peter Asiedu, the Managing Director of Aki-Ola Publications, officially handed over the materials, which include a diverse range of textbooks and supplementary reading materials designed to aid classroom instruction.
Receiving the books on behalf of the Fund, the Deputy Administrator of GETFund, Alhassan Sualihu Dandaawa, acknowledged the significance of the contribution. The donated resources are intended to directly support literacy programmes and enhance teaching outcomes for students nationwide. By providing these materials, the partnership aims to encourage a culture of reading and provide teachers with the necessary tools for effective curriculum delivery.
Aki-Ola Publications emphasised that this donation reflects its long-standing commitment to the advancement of education in Ghana. As the government continues to seek sustainable financing and resource models for schools, the success of the EFPI highlights the potential for private companies to play a more active role in educational development. The materials are expected to be distributed to various schools where they will have an immediate impact on teaching and learning activities.
