The Africa Prosperity Network (APN) has announced a new schedule for the 2027 Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD), moving the event forward to January 13–15. Originally slated for late January, the summit will still be held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra. This adjustment ensures the dialogues serve as a strategic precursor to the African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, allowing the outcomes of the Accra meetings to directly inform the AU's high-level deliberations.
Organisers explained that the decision to reschedule from the previous dates of January 27–29 was made to better align with the broader AU calendar and to avoid any conflict with the start of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on February 7, 2027. By holding the event earlier in the month, the APN aims to facilitate maximum participation from continental leaders and stakeholders. The network expressed regret for any potential inconvenience caused by the shift and urged all international and local delegates to update their travel and logistical arrangements accordingly.
Under the patronage of President John Dramani Mahama, the 2027 dialogues will focus on the theme, "The Africa We Want Is Borderless. Move Freely. Pay Seamlessly. Trade More." The summit is designed to provide a platform for African leaders, business executives, and policy experts to tackle barriers to intra-African trade. Discussions will specifically target the implementation of free movement of persons and the standardisation of cross-border payment systems, which are considered critical pillars for the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The 2027 edition of the dialogues holds particular significance as it coincides with Ghana’s 70th independence anniversary. Furthermore, the event aligns with the period during which President Mahama is expected to be confirmed as the Chairperson of the African Union. A primary objective of the January gathering will be the finalisation of the APD Action Compact, a document outlining priorities for the continent’s single market agenda to be presented at the subsequent AU Summit.
