The Africa Monologue Challenge (AMC) is set to showcase four cultural ambassadors at the CANEX WKND 2026 event in Lagos on November 6. This performance is designed to highlight the continent’s burgeoning creative economy and promote the importance of intra-African storytelling. By bringing together talent from across the continent, the initiative seeks to use the performing arts as a vehicle for unity and shared identity.
The performers selected for the showcase include Jeromy Mumba from Zambia, Maud Guerrard from Rwanda, William Lamptey from Ghana, and Douglas Mwenda Nyaga from Kenya. Together, they will present an original 20-minute theatrical piece developed exclusively for this event. AMC Chairman Harold Roger Quartey emphasized that the performance serves a dual purpose: celebrating artistic excellence and promoting the narratives that underpin intra-African trade and cooperation.
Originally established in Ghana, the Africa Monologue Challenge has evolved from a competition into a significant platform for pan-African creative expression. With support from the African Export-Import Bank, the initiative continues to bridge the gap between the continent’s rich history and its future potential. This upcoming appearance in Lagos marks a new chapter for the AMC following its successful recent season in Ghana, cementing its status as a key player in Africa’s creative landscape.
