The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Afadzato South Constituency has officially scheduled its internal elections for October 24, 2026. This announcement follows a critical preparatory meeting held on October 9, where party officials discussed the logistical and administrative requirements for the upcoming exercise. The elections will be hosted at Ve-Agbome, with the Nneka Camp serving as the primary venue for the voting process. According to Mr. Denise Golo, the Director of Elections for the constituency, the nomination process has largely concluded. He noted that while there was significant interest among party members to serve, one aspirant failed to return their nomination form before the stipulated deadline, effectively excluding them from the race. The upcoming polls will see members compete for various leadership positions, including the roles of chairman, vice-chairman, and several other key executive seats within the constituency’s structure. This internal electoral process is part of a broader mandate to renew the party’s local leadership and solidify its foundation at the grassroots level. Mr. Golo underscored the importance of these elections as a precursor to the 2028 general elections. He called for a spirit of unity among all aspirants and party supporters, emphasizing that the collective strength of the NDC depends on a peaceful and transparent transition of power within its internal structures. The successful completion of these elections is expected to provide the Afadzato South NDC with a refreshed executive team ready to mobilize voters. As the party looks toward the future, the renewal of leadership at the constituency level remains a top priority to ensure that the NDC is well-positioned to engage with the electorate and maintain its political influence in the region.
