Adonten Senior High School has emerged as the ultimate winner of the 2026 National Business Pitch Competition, demonstrating exceptional entrepreneurial prowess. The competition, which brought together six finalist schools, was held under the theme "Augmenting Innovation." This flagship event serves as a platform for students to present innovative business solutions designed to tackle specific societal challenges, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.
The journey to the finals involved a rigorous 16-week incubation program where students were mentored in business development and pitching techniques. Adonten Senior High School outperformed its peers to take the first prize, while Aburi Girls’ Senior High School and Archbishop Potter Girls’ Senior High School earned the second and third positions, respectively. The pitches were the culmination of months of research, prototyping, and business modeling, reflecting a high standard of creativity among the participating student teams.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of JA Ghana, Edem Amedi-Addie, underscored the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. He encouraged the participants to maintain their momentum and continue viewing societal problems as fertile ground for innovation. Dr. Michael Wilson also addressed the gathering, pointing out that in an increasingly difficult job market, the ability of the youth to create their own opportunities is vital for the country's economic future.
Following their national victory, the team from Adonten Senior High School is set to represent Ghana at the African level of the competition. This continental stage will provide the students with the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a broader audience and compete against the best young entrepreneurs from across Africa. The success of the program highlights the ongoing efforts to integrate practical entrepreneurship into the Ghanaian educational landscape.
