The National Democratic Congress (NDC) executive elections in the Adaklu Constituency were delayed on Tuesday after officials from the party’s regional office failed to arrive on schedule. While the voting process was slated to commence at 08:00 hours at the Adaklu Waya Evangelical Presbyterian Church Basic School, the absence of the regional representatives meant that the necessary coordination for the polls had not occurred by 09:30 hours. The delay left over 500 delegates and 28 candidates waiting for the regional team to officially open the polls.
Mr. David Agbogah, the Adaklu Constituency NDC Electoral Officer, confirmed that the local election committee and contestants were ready but could not proceed without the regional supervisors. An anonymous contestant noted that all local preparations were in place and the arrival of the regional representatives was the final requirement to trigger the voting process. Despite the wait, the atmosphere at the venue remained orderly as party members anticipated the start of the internal contest.
Mr. Edward Klu-Ewuiah, one of the candidates vying for a position, emphasized that the internal exercise should be viewed as a family affair. He urged all participants to maintain a communal spirit, regardless of the delay, to ensure that the party remains united after the results are declared. He stressed that this unity is essential for the NDC to strengthen its grassroots foundation in preparation for the 2028 general elections.
As the constituency waited for the arrival of the regional supervisors, the focus remained on ensuring a transparent and peaceful process. The outcome of these polls will determine the executive team tasked with mobilizing the Adaklu Constituency, a key area for the party. Party officials expressed optimism that once the regional delegation arrived, the voting would proceed smoothly to a conclusion later in the day.
