Hundreds of residents in Adabraka and its surrounding areas turned out for a comprehensive free health screening exercise organized by the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL). The initiative, designed to bring preventive healthcare closer to the community, offered a wide range of services including general medical consultations, dental and optical examinations, and blood sugar and pressure monitoring. Beyond clinical checks, the event facilitated National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration for over 100 participants, underscoring a commitment to improving long-term health accessibility for the local population.
The event received significant corporate support from various pharmaceutical and healthcare providers who supplied free medications and technical expertise. Managing Director of GCGL, Ato Afful, highlighted that the exercise was a core part of the company's corporate social responsibility, noting that GCGL has operated within the Adabraka community for 76 years. He emphasized the importance of giving back to the host community through tangible health interventions. Dr. Kweku Essilfie Arhin, a lead medical professional at the event, observed a notable increase in health consciousness among the participants, as many residents actively sought advice on managing chronic conditions and lifestyle-related health risks.
Local community leaders have lauded the initiative for its immediate impact on public welfare, particularly for vulnerable residents who may face financial or logistical barriers to regular medical checkups. The high patronage and the successful enrollment of dozens into the NHIS suggest a strong demand for localized, accessible health interventions. Moving forward, the Graphic Communications Group has indicated that similar outreach programs may be extended to other communities, reinforcing the media organization's role as a proactive partner in national development and community health advocacy.
