The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has issued a firm ultimatum to mechanics operating in the North Industrial Area, demanding the immediate removal of all vehicles parked along the Dadeban Loop. The deadline for compliance has been set for Monday, November 2, 2026. This directive is part of a broader effort by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to reclaim public road space and facilitate essential infrastructure development in one of the city's key industrial hubs.
The order follows an inspection and engagement session conducted by the Mayor on October 26. During this visit, Mayor Allotey met with leaders from six prominent mechanic workshops located in the vicinity to discuss the ongoing obstruction of the roadway. According to the Mayor, the presence of vehicles on the Dadeban Loop has hindered access to sections of the road that have been designated for upcoming construction projects. The engagement was intended to provide a window for voluntary compliance before enforcement actions begin.
Mayor Allotey cautioned that failure to adhere to the November 2 deadline would lead to the forceful removal of any remaining vehicles. He indicated that the assembly would deploy towing services to clear the path, with the costs potentially being borne by the workshop owners. This move is seen as a necessary step to ensure that public infrastructure projects are not delayed by unauthorized use of the road network. The North Industrial Area is a critical economic zone, and maintaining clear access routes is vital for both the upcoming construction works and the general flow of commercial traffic in the district.
