Accra is set to become the epicenter of continental investment as it prepares to host the 16th African Economic Summit on September 17 and 18, 2026. The event, organized by the Friends of Africa (FOA) initiative, will be held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City. This marks a significant milestone for the country as it is the first time the summit will be hosted in Ghana, bringing together a diverse group of investors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and government representatives from across Africa and North America to foster economic growth and development. Under the theme "Building Sustainable Futures: Scaling Investment Partnerships in Ghana," the two-day summit aims to bridge the gap between African enterprises and global capital. A major highlight of the program is a startup pitch competition featuring 40 selected startups seeking vital seed capital. By focusing on funding access and cross-border opportunities, particularly with partners in Canada and the wider North American region, the summit seeks to strengthen trade ties and empower the next generation of African business leaders within the diaspora and beyond. The summit's structure combines formal discussions with informal networking sessions designed to transform ideas into tangible investment opportunities. Participants can expect expert panels and deep dives into strategic partnership areas, alongside a vibrant cultural showcase. This exhibition of Ghanaian heritage, featuring local music, food, and talent, is intended to provide international delegates with a holistic experience of the host nation's economic and cultural potential. As preparations continue, the Friends of Africa initiative is inviting corporate organizations and stakeholders to participate through various sponsorship packages to enhance their visibility and engagement. By facilitating direct dialogue between financial leaders and entrepreneurs, the 16th African Economic Summit aims to establish a lasting framework for sustainable investment that will drive Ghana's economic future and bolster its position as a leading investment destination on the continent.
